Catwalk Tanks
Obround Tanks
Obround tanks are a space-saving steel format for lubricant and motor oil dispensing. All standard obround tanks are 275 gallons, offered in several dimension and rise-bracket combinations so the tank clears the equipment underneath it. Tanks come standard with 6-inch or 19-inch rise brackets, and both bare tanks and pre-assembled dispensing packages are available.
Roth Double Wall Storage Tanks
Roth tanks are a lightweight alternative for installations where a UL-142 steel tank is not required, weighing 55 percent less than a 12-gauge steel tank of comparable capacity. They pair a blow-molded high-density polyethylene inner tank with a galvanized steel outer tank that holds at least 110 percent of the inner tank capacity, and are certified to UL SU2258. The Roth line stores class II and class III combustibles including automotive lubricating oils, motor oils, hydraulic fluids, waste oil, diesel, biofuels, DEF, and ATF, and is compliant with NFPA 30 and 30A subject to local building code approval. Compact sizes fit into garages, service stations, and lube shops where a larger rectangular tank will not.
Poly Tanks
Stackable poly tanks store bulk fluids vertically instead of across the floor, so a single system can hold several products in the space a conventional tank would occupy. Newberry supplies Tote-A-Lube, Cubetainer, Wall-Stacker, and Slimtainer tanks and gravity feed systems from 32 to 330 gallons, constructed from UL rated food grade polyethylene resin with molded-in fluid level markings for visual inventory checks. Applications include quick lube shops, dealerships, fleet maintenance facilities, and manufacturing plants.
Choosing the Right Lube Tank
The lines solve different problems. Use this to narrow quickly, then call us with the fluid, the volume, and the footprint you have to work with.
| If you need... | Consider | Capacity Range |
|---|---|---|
| A single wall steel tank that fits through a doorway or runs along an aisle | Rectangular, Slim line | Pending |
| Maximum volume in a warehouse footprint | Rectangular, Bulk line | Pending |
| A tank for an oil change facility or dealership service area | Catwalk line | Pending |
| A tank that clears equipment underneath, with a top-mounted or reel-fed pump | Obround, with rise brackets | 275 gal |
| A lightweight tank where a UL-142 steel tank is not required | Roth Double Wall, 55% lighter than steel | 110 to 400 gal |
| Several fluids stored in one small footprint | Poly, stackable | 32 to 330 gal |
| Secondary containment | Rectangular in double wall construction | Varies |

FAQ
What is a lube oil tank?
A lube oil tank is a bulk storage vessel for lubricants such as motor oil, hydraulic fluid, gear oil, and ATF. It replaces drum-by-drum dispensing: instead of handling 55 gallon drums, a facility stores lubricant in a single tank and dispenses it through a pump, hose, and metered control handle. Newberry lube tanks are available across a range of capacities, with larger sizes available.
What is a lube bay?
A lube bay is the service area in a shop, dealership, or fleet facility where oil changes and lubrication work are performed. Bulk lube tanks are typically installed in or adjacent to the lube bay and plumbed to dispensing reels so a technician can pull fluid at the vehicle rather than carrying drums or jugs to it.
What is a catwalk tank?
A catwalk tank is a lube tank installed under a catwalk, in settings such as oil change facilities and car dealerships. This answer will be expanded once Newberry supplies a fuller description of the application.
What sizes do lube oil tanks come in?
Newberry offers rectangular lube tanks in slim and bulk form factors, catwalk tanks, obround tanks at 275 gallons, Roth double wall tanks from 110 to 400 gallons, and stackable poly tanks from 32 to 330 gallons. Rectangular and catwalk capacity ranges are pending confirmation.
What is the difference between a single wall and a double wall lube tank?
A double wall tank has a second outer shell that contains the product if the inner tank fails, providing secondary containment without a separate dike or basin. Single wall tanks are lighter and less expensive but generally require external containment depending on the fluid stored and the authority having jurisdiction. Newberry rectangular and obround tanks are available in both constructions.
Are Newberry lube tanks UL listed?
Rectangular lube tanks are built, tested, and labeled per UL-142. Roth double wall storage tanks are certified to UL SU2258. Confirm with your local authority having jurisdiction which listing your installation requires.
What can a Roth double wall tank store?
The Roth DWT is designed for class II and class III combustible liquids, including automotive lubricating oils, motor oils, hydraulic fluids, waste oil products, diesel, biofuels, DEF, and ATF. It is compliant with NFPA 30 and 30A, subject to building code approval by the local authority having jurisdiction.
Can I get a lube tank with the pump and reel already installed?
Yes. Newberry offers pre-assembled turnkey packages that ship ready to use, which removes the time and expense associated with installing lubrication equipment on site.
How do I calculate how much oil is in my tank at a given level?
Use the Newberry tank chart calculator at Tank Chart Calculator to convert a measured fluid level into gallons for your tank dimensions.
